This cd is billed as epic metal and seems to be influenced by bands such as Therion and heavier Nightwish.
It’s a decent cd with quite a lot of tracks that start slowly and build up some speed and in places excitement. The cd has that mix of harder growling male metal and operatic female singing. Track 1, ‘der Ring der Nibelungen’ has a long symphonic keyboard intro, then good guitar riffs. Track 2 ‘Fafnir’ starts with a nice chunky riff then gets much faster. Track 4 ‘die Prophezeihung’ (yes you’ve guessed , it’s in German, which might limit it’s impact) has good, powerful drumming, good tempo changing riffs, good keyboard support and nice operatic singing. Track 7 ‘Totenwach’ has a dramatic, slow start with a nice guitar sound and follows a similar pattern to many tracks with fast guitar and drumming.
The cd has a pretty good, clear production sound and is quite a good example of its genre and is worth a listen. It’s on the German label, Napalm.
