  1. This was a great concert and the review certainly does it justice; the UOGB has shown us new facets of the ukulele which, for a long time seemed to be the instrument of choice for middle-aged men leaning on lamp-posts. No more! UOGB showed the versatility of the different types of ukulele and surely sales of this readily accessible instrument will go wild. Anyone, from the very young to the quite ancient can surely manage a few basic chords and the concert certainly provided encouragement.

There were two drawbacks to the potentially lovely O2 venue: first of all, having queued in the freezing cold, the inside temperature was not much higher (cold to match the blue of the lighting on the ornate ironwork). Secondly the intrusive noises from the Security Staff’s radios – surely a bit of sensitivity is required here – it really did ruin some of the quiet bits. However, it was worth it to see UOGB in the flesh for the first time; they too felt the cold and one came out in a long, warm scarf after the interval.
