Dreamrock trio KEELEY have confirmed five new dates in England in March, with new drummer Andrew Paresi, whose credits include the first three Morrissey albums and work with producer Stephen Street. In fact, the Smiths/Moz connection doesn’t end there as both Paresi and singer/guitarist Keeley Moss are taking part in the Manchester Festival for Andy Rourke fundraiser concert in aid of the Christie Cancer Charity on May 17/18 at the Star & Garter in Manchester as part of the tribute band ROURKE. The event is hosted by author Julie Hamill. Ticket info here.
In the meantime, Moss, Paresi and bassist Lukey Foxtrot will play London, Manchester, Preston and Birmingham in March in continued support of their debut album ‘Floating Above Everything Else‘ (Dimple Discs). The mini-tour starts with a support slot for blues-punk mavericks Folk Devils at The 100 Club in London, who are celebrating the 40th Anniversary of their 1984 indie-chart single “Hank Turns Blue”. On the headline dates, support comes from Blackpool’s Sweet Knuckle featuring two former members of Section 25, who recorded for legendary Manchester label Factory Records. Also in the mix are neo-shoegazers Last Tourist, Preston’s local heroes dead things, and Birmingham indie-rock ups-and-comers Dispirit.
On what to expect from the new live shows Moss comments..”Cats who come to the shows can expect nothing less than a Keeleylicious sonic odyssey. The kind of music we make is the kind I’d like to hear at a gig and nobody else seems to be making it right now, so we have to do it ourselves. Blissoutdontmissout!“
