Due to overwhelming demand, Old Empire are thrilled to announce a second London date for the other-worldly Norwegian phenomenon, Wardruna. Lead by Einar Selvik, composer for much of the soundtrack for the hit TV show ‘Vikings’, Wardruna are an act like no other. This coming fall, they will complete their ‘Runajold’ triology with the much anticipated release of the final part of the story titled ‘Ragnarok‘. A musical concept set to explore, evoke and educate its listeners on the rich depths of Norse mythology and spirituality. Using the oldest Nordic instruments known to man, sounds pulled directly from nature, with many of the recordings taking place outside, and lyrics written in Norwegian, Old-Norse and Proto-Norse – the ongoing ‘Runaljod’ trilogy is a musical rendition of the historical 24 runes, often referred to as the elder futhark. 

Wardruna are an act that defy definition, and whilst their music can share characterizes with genre’s typically labelled folk, they must be experienced live to truly comprehend their unique and ethereal sound.
